Nellie’s photography varies from exploring the human condition to unconventional beauty and fashion. With an interest in how one’s environment can affect perspective and mental health, she has recently been examining how the integration of technology into the average human routine has affected how we are intimate with one another, and the moral implications of this.
In this project ‘Through the Screen’, Nellie is exploring the idea of intimacy behind screens, physical in nature despite the inability to touch. The images are set in the realm of a cyberspace, the subjects trapped and unable to achieve the physical intimacy of the natural world.
Her current project is delving deeper into digital intimacy by looking into AI and ‘sexbots’. The project explores kinks and power play, aiming to create conversation around the gender politics and moral implications of owning sex robots.
