Like Father, Like Son
Emily is a documentary and portrait photographer. Her work often explores the connection between person and place, often following the same subject over a significant period of time.
This series examines my father, his childhood and how his own father influenced his life. It presents us with an index of objects, portraits and archival scans – each capturing a moment within my father’s life. The project aims to remind us of the importance of documenting things and holding onto treasured items. The work was based around a collection of my fathers and grandfathers’ belongings.
An English Dream
An English Dream is an extension of my interest in the notions of home. Through observing the ever changing landscape of suburban living around Bristol. I aim to portray a skewed version of the English dream of home ownership, by documenting the countryside, out of town shopping centres and industrial parks. The photographs explore sites where the natural and man-made elements interact to form a new form of landscape known as ‘edgelands’.
