Through using photography as a therapeutic tool, my aim is to not only to create images that reflect people and place, but that communicate my own thoughts and feelings too. My process is reflective and careful, I take time to understand a place before composing the shot.
Taking inspiration from my surroundings, East Street came after moving to Bedminster mid 2020. An area which is commonly misconceived by the media, I tried to approach the project with open eyes, spending many hours walking around what seemed to me like an island. I found myself creating photographs which were bleak and empty, the absence of people due to the pandemic and the constant closure of shops along East Street made me feel isolated.
